I sold a Lego set, parcelled everything up in a shoe box then put in a plastic post bag. I took the parcel to the Post Office where they scanned the QR code, printed the postage label, and stuck it on my parcel. I received a message from the buyer two days later saying I’d sent the wrong thing - a pair of jeans rather than the Lego set. I definitely sent the Lego and am not even selling any jeans! I looked at the photo of the item being delivered on the Royal Mail website and it wasn’t the parcel I sent - it was a floppy clothes parcel not my box-shaped one, but had my postal label on - I could just make out my name and address is the sent address, and it had the tracking number associated with my parcel.
The buyer and I have been in touch and can’t understand how it happened. He opened a case with EBay saying he hadn’t received the item but as the parcel is showing as having been delivered, the case has been closed. The buyer has now requested that he returns the item (the jeans that I never sent) for a refund as what he received doesn’t match what he ordered. I get why but is there nothing I can do but accept the return, getting a pair of random jeans sent to me, and refunding the Lego set?
Thanks for any help/advice.
