Why as a Private Seller am I being charged VAT?

Hi there

I have recently noticed I am being charged VAT on my sales. I cannot seem to get through to anyone at Ebay?Only the computer chat which always directs me to the wrong answer

I am a Private seller selling family stuff. Being doing this since 2003 without any problems

Can anyone help or give me a number to call, please?

You aren't being charged VAT.

Buyers pay Buyer protection fee of 4% + 75p.

This is includes VAT, which ebay has to charge as a business.

It would be clearer if ebay didn't break the fee down as private buyers & sellers can't avoid it.
