I live in UK, but have Native American heritage... whilst looking for something else, I noticed widespread use of a couple of terms- "redskins" (not the football team), "red indians", and "squaw".
Just to focus on the word Squaw- it is an incredibly offensive word, it means a woman who sells her intimacy... it was a demeaning word used to subjugate native american people. Now that the world is more aware of such things, we are removing the use of the word. Yet, Ebay allows it, and when I complained, was told there was no problem.
If you google "is squaw an offensive term?" you will get a ton of credible information- places that used to use the term "squaw" have now changed their names.
We would not allow someone to use other offensive terms like the N word,or similar...so how can I ask Ebay to update it's policy and to block this word? It's not necessary, there is a perfectly good alternative.
Or does ebay just not care about such things?
Any suggestions how to raise the concerns? I tried to complain but as I said was told they didn't see the problem.
