Hi All, Im enquiring for my son (only 2 items sold). He sold a computer base unit through ebay, it was fully working. and sent it in the post. The buyer is now claiming it was damaged by the courier and has no power and the graphics card is broken & the case is dented. The buyer has requested a return, but the item was sold on the basis of no returns due to nature of the hobby (but looking at the old listing it says it is covered by the ebay money back guaruntee), my question is if he accepts the return, what happens to my sons' money? If the buyer gets a refund, does my son keep the money he has been paid for it? and how do we move forward with this? thanks very much, B.

Assuming ebay's Simple Delivery was used if the buyer used the reason "Item damaged" ebay will refund themselves and your son keeps the payment. Item would not be returned.
If the buyer used "not as described" as the reason, they would send the item back then a full refund of the payment would be issued.

No returns is no good if reason for return is NOT AS DESCRIBED, in this case damaged.
Buyer has to open a return case For NOT AS DESCRIBED reason if appropriate DAMAGED IN TRANSIT.
This may be where ebay will take over and they refund, and your son keeps the money.
Whether this will happen is up to ebay, if not then your son has to supply a prepaid return label, and on return refund in full.
In theory this is what buyer protection is all about, but if your son has to refund, then he should try to claim off the Courier, which can prove difficult and maximum compensation can be only about £20.

It looks as if it was sold using Evri Tracked, rather than Ebay Simple Delivery.
Your son must respond to the return by accepting it and providing a label if he wants the item back.
It will be up to your son (the seller) to refund the buyer. The Money Back Guarantee is for the benefit of the buyer and ensures that buyers are refunded, but the refund comes from the sales proceeds, so is refunded by the seller, not Ebay.
I believe that when you send computer equipment with Evri, it is sent entirely at your own risk but that is something for your son to look into.
