I am absolutely fuming that i paid over 150 quid for a hoodie only to be informed by the Royal Mail that they won't deliver it until I've stumped up another £86 Vat when it said NOTHING about it on the advert.

It usually does warn buyers if import fees and taxes may be due, but to be honest it is the responsibility of the importer, that's you, to know the law on imports and how ebay deals with purchases from abroad.

Can you provide the listing number?

If you bought it from the American seller located in Brooklyn, USA who has left you feedback recently, it does say on the listing 'Import fees may apply on delivery'.  When you click for further information, it then informs you:

Import fees
Import fees may include duties, taxes and customs processing for international orders.
Payment options
Prepay at checkout
eBay International Shipping offers the option to prepay import fees at checkout. You won't have to manage customs or pay anything extra after checkout.
Pay on delivery
Customs may apply import fees when your item arrives. If fees apply, customs or the postal courier will contact you for payment.

it said NOTHING about it on the advert.

But what advert? It would help to tell us the item number.

If you're importing an item from outside the UK then it's nothing to do with either eBay or the seller, it's down to the buyer to be aware of the import fees into their country.

These fees are see by our very own HMRC and are nothing to do with the seller or eBay.

If you don't pay then you won't receive your hoodie and won't be able to claim your money back via eBay.
