Purchased a pair of skates, arrived 6 days ago, first usage was today looked fine, however less than an hour into skating the plastic snapped in two parts.
where do I stand? I understand the sellers response but this was the first time using the product for intended purpose.
Wasn’t stunt skating just skating in a hall..
its kind of annoying for both parties but as it stands these aren’t fixable and I’m a £40 ish down.
never had this type of problem before.
think if I was in that situation my guilt would make me want to help..
but does the seller have any obligation at this point?

What counts isn't that it failed on first use, but when you received it?
If within the last 30 days you can use eBay's money back guarantee and should be entitled to a full refund. The seller will have to pay the return postage if they want it back.
If even a day beyond the 30 day time limit eBay will not get involved. It would be between you and the seller.
