Unclear what cost will be when 3 different prices for same item show

Item https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/146399292681 has current price shown on item description page as £50.59, on bid history page as £48.48 and when clicking "submit bid" as £51.03.  How is bidder to understand exact commitment bidding?  It is probably due to buyer protection surcharge which does the opposite in introducing this unwanted uncertainty.
