A week ago, a buyer bought an item from me, and I posted that item the next day. All I got from eBay was the buyer's name, Fishguard, Pembrokeshire, and the postcode. I was skeptical at the time, but I had nothing else to go on, so I posted the item. I wasn't surprised that the item wasn't delivered, and now eBay is asking me to resolve the buyer's request for a refund. Oh, and another thing. eBay kept asking me to update my banking details so I could be paid once I made a sale. 3 times I went through that process, and 3 times eBay refused to recognize my banking details. So I haven't been paid for this sale, as the funds are still with eBay, and they're asking me to refund the buyer out of my own pocket.
Can anyone make sense of this predicament? I certainly can't.

Presumably you used tracking, if so what does it say?
If address was incomplete why didn’t you either cancel sale, reason problem with address, or contact buyer for more details.?
Was the address you posted to supplied by ebay,? Even with just a name and post code you could have seen the road name.
Bank Details - Account must be in your name, and you supply Bank Sort Code and Account Number Sort Code is 6 digits Account number is 8 digits. Have you checked that any information is in numbers and not for example using Capital O (Letter).

Paying for things from a bank account is very different to fully registering for managed payments so that payments can go in. Not all accounts can be used for payments in. Who do you bank with?
You really should have completed the registration process before selling anything.
Was there a return address on the parcel?
Edit, it appears you used used Simple Delivery, seller pays, so you should be covered by Simple Delivery seller protection. I suggest you take that up with customer service.
