Unable to list Apple AirPods

Hi,

I’ve created a listing for Apple AirPods. Everything appears fine but the listing isn’t appearing in search results.

Tried listing another item - works fine. item shows up in searches within minutes.

Tried listing AirPods on another account - same issue… doesn’t show up.

Is eBay blocking AirPod listings for some reason? I’ve tried listing as Buy It Now and auction with the same result.

Not had this issue before in all the years I’ve been on eBay.

Re: Unable to list Apple AirPods

Thanks for the reply but that doesn't address what I've said...

Firstly, I understand what VeRO is and why it exists. I don't have an issue with that.

When I try to list an item that's from a "protected" brand, I get a warning and eBay doesn't let me list the item. Again, I understand this.

HOWEVER, the issue I have now is that eBay is letting me list the item but it's then hiding it. It's not stopping me from listing it. It's not ending the listing. It's just hiding it from searches.

Having said all of that, I've just spoken to eBay support who have confirmed that there's currently a delay while certain Apple items are "filtered". I need to allow 24 to 48 hours for the item to show up in searches.

Re: Unable to list Apple AirPods

I believe Apple is protected by Vero,  read about their policies from a link at the bottom of most pages.

If you have been able to list them before,  and yes, there are some listed now,  these have slipped the net and become listed.

There are over 7 billion listings on at any one time so impossible for each and every item to be checked,  some invariably become listed.

Some of course may have Apple's permission to sell their items online,  this would be your only way forward to list those items.  Not sure how free Apple are in offering this permission to sell their items.

Re: Unable to list Apple AirPods

Whaaat..? So unless verified, nobody can list an Apple item on eBay?

I’ve never had this before but I haven’t sold Apple for awhile.

Why am I not getting an error when I try to list like I would with other brands? If I try to list Dior for example it won’t let me list at all. It tells me I can list certain “luxury” brands.

Instead my listings are just going into limbo. That’s crazy.

And yes

Re: Unable to list Apple AirPods

The reason for Vero protected high brand items,  is because there are so many fakes and as eBay cannot obviously check these items physically,  those Brand owners are signed up to Vero policies.

It's not eBay removing your items,  Dior is also a protected Vero item , it's the Brand owners themselves asking eBay to remove their items, for fear of being fakes.  Unfortunately,  then real items like yours get swept under the same umbrella and removed.  You cannot relist the items once removed,  as you would receive serious selling restrictions.

Read about Vero's policies from links at bottom of most eBay pages,  it's not a new thing.

Truly I understand the frustration and annoyance, but you cannot overcome once you've been spotted and reported for listing a Vero protected item.

Aaah,  that's interesting, perhaps they are checking to see if you have the rights to sell the items,  but I'll keep an eye and see if your items do appear in the next 48 hours,  if they do then CS has given you the correct information,   fingers crossed !

I have just checked your listings you have 2 Airpods listed I can see,  are these the ones in contention?  Both at £139.93 and one in Auction format with Best Offer.

You are selling nearly all new branded items as a private seller.

This is a red flag for ebay & VeRo that items may be fake.

Thanks. Luckily eBay haven’t found any issues in 26 years of membership so hopefully it resolves itself soon.

Re: Unable to list Apple AirPods

Just because ebay haven't found issues yet, does not mean you shouldn't upgrade to business seller.

I’m not a business seller.  Thanks.

Re: Unable to list Apple AirPods

Just to explain what clarifies a Business seller in eBay's eyes, as it does not amount to the total monies received from sales, or numbers sold.

If you sell all Brand new items,  hand made items , or items bought to sell,  this needs a Business seller account.

If you wish to sell unwanted second hand items,  such as a wardrobe,  garage, attic clear out,  these can be listed on a Private account.

To be in compliance with eBay's rules,  you can easily switch your Private account you're using now  to sell Brand New items,  to a Business account this way,  and you keep all feedback received:

  1. Go to Account settings in My eBay.
  2. Select Personal information
  3. Select Edit next to Account type. You may be asked to sign in again.
  4. Select Confirm to upgrade to a Business account.
  5. Specify whether you operate your business as a legal entity or as a sole proprietor and select Continue.
  6. On the following page, enter your business information such as name, contact information, and returns policy. Then select Save.

Probably best to use a PC / laptop for this,  and not the app or mobile browser.  Chrome seems to work best on eBay.

Re: Unable to list Apple AirPods

Hi. I appreciate all that information. Thanks.

However, none of those conditions apply to me. Without going into detail to justify my sales over the last year, not every I wanted item is second hand. If I have gifts that I no longer want but haven’t been used, I can sell them on eBay.

Also, as stated originally, i’ve tried listing the Apple items on another account (my partners) and had exactly the same issue. My partners account is nothing like mine.

So, common sense would say that the issue I posted about originally is not to do with my account behaviour or status.

The items are now appearing on the site so it would appear that the advice given by eBay help that I related earlier was in fact correct and therefore my query is resolved and so I suggest this thread could be closed. Thanks.
