Turns out our Ps4 was a banned console!

We bought a Ps4 bundle with 5 games in an auction. Seller has 100% positive feedback. Items arrived 13th June we checked them and plugged in the system all worked perfectly. We wrapped them up and gave them to my son for his birthday on July 27th. He was thrilled and started to play with it straight away. The same day he took 3 of the games to Game and swapped them for another game he liked more and a PSN (online) membership. He played with his friends online for a week before a message came up to tell us the console was subject to a ban. We have had a nightmare trying to sort it out Sony have been extremely rude and said we were mugs for buying it on EBay. It was over 30days from purchase, ebay would not give us our money back, PayPal settled in favour of the seller as we had not got the components of the original bundle. We have been in contact with the seller who seems genuine and said the debt which caused the ban was due to Sony taking money from her account without authorisation and they had previously received a refund but she has settled with Sony who promised to reconnect the console...two weeks ago. Sony have been extremely unhelpful. Has anyone got any further suggestions? The console is in perfect order...we had no way of telling anything was wrong until the message came up after a week. Please take this story as a warning it has completely ruined our summer and my husband has gone back to work the Bank Holiday w'end to raise funds to buy a new one as we're totally gutted. Sony seemingly do not like their products being bought second hand and have scoffed at us and treated us like dirt. This has been our worst purchasing experience of our lives.
