The GSP appears not to work for uk sellers - it just defaults to 'contact the seller' every time

I posted about this under a different title a couple of days ago:

I am reposting it with a more relevant title in case anyone else is looking for information, as it now appears it may be an eBay issue with the GPS?

If I find an item for sale that is overseas and they have GSP enabled, then I am given estimated postage and other costs for my location. I can change this location, do 'update' and get the costs for other countries.

Most (but not all) purchases from the UK seem to just default to 'Contact the seller' - which is not very helpful. Put in any country on almost any item with GSP enabled and you get the same. I found this problem as a potential buyer messaged me to ask for postage costs to Korea, even though I have GSP enabled for that listing.

I have no idea what is wrong. I initially thought was problem with my listings or my account or a restriction on the item, but I have looked at many different items on other people's accounts and have got the same  results - although oddly one or two did work.

I can't find any mention of this on the Internet - and contacting eBay seems absolutely impossible, I always end up with a talk-bot that is as much use as a chocolate teapot.

Has anyone any knowledge of what the problem is or could be?

There have been a couple of posts similar to yours but no notification from Ebay that this is affecting lots of UK users.

Is there an issue with GSP please?  Germany and Korea seem to be problems.

It isn't just Germany and Korea. I've just picked an item at random from a UK seller that offers the GSP. I selected about 20 different Countries and they nearly all said 'Contact the seller' - The only ones which offered information on shipping costs were The UK and Guernsey - which is a UK territory anyway.  Bizarrely, even Jersey (next Island, also UK territory) gave me 'Contact the seller', too.

Changing the Country doesn't produce an error - it allows any country in the list to be selected, it says "Will post to...[Wherever]" - it just doesn't give any prices.

Have you spoken to Customer Services to report the issue?

Yes, I have spoken to eBay customer services.

What they said was that there is nothing wrong at my end. My account is enabled for GSP and the item sale is set up correctly. There is no issue with my listings - so they have suggested I contact the buyer and ask him to contact them as the problem appears to be at his end, either with his account or possibly with exports to South Korea.

I did point out that when I selected UK listings that had GSP enabled myself and select a different shipping destination I just got 'Contact seller' - and I was told this was not a valid test as I was still in the UK eBay site and the system knows I am in the UK, regardless of where I ask the item to be shipped to, so it will not give GSP costs. Logging out of eBay and navigating to the eBay site in another country and accessing the listing from there is the correct way to do it - but another mentor had previously tried that and also got 'Contact seller'. However, when the Customer Services person tried whilst I was on the phone, it appeared to work for him.

This would suggest there is not a global problem with the UK, but a specific problem with (in my case) South Korea - or the actual buyer's account.  Let us hope so.

They could investigate no further without speaking to the buyer, so I will contact him and suggest this.
