Sold an item, package arrived, contents have been stolen in transit

Hi all,

I sold an item, sent it off and when it arrived the box had been sliced open and the contents ( the item I sold) have been stolen.  It was sent via eBay easy delivery so they chose the courier I presume?  Anyway, buyer is being great but it's been 5 days now. He opened a case so finds have been held and the case notes say I don't need to do anything and eBay will take it from here.   What's the protocol, do we both need to just sit tight and wait or is there any other action I should take?  It has also been reported to the courier.

What sort of case did the buyer open?

If they opened an 'item not received' case, Ebay will close it when the tracking catches up to show the item has been delivered.

Buyer might need to open a NOT AS DESCRIBED CASE, this is the only time a second case can be opened, as even though stolen, tracking could show something delivered and a Not received case would close.
