Sold a wreck? Would anyone be happy to spend £2250 on a van and when it arrives is awful??

Paid £2250 for a scrap van and seller still says van is fine? Smokes constantly on start up? Damage and rust everywhere?  Zero service history but told had full service? Not 1mm of oil in engine? Side door doest open? Handle useless? Im disabled so cant climb over filthy seats? Engine sounds dreadful? Bottom of windscreen covered in rust? Damage to sills , bodywork? Sits way too low?? Central locking doesnt work?? Radio doesnt even work? Filthy interior with garbage used camping stuff????  Drives like a pig and smokes endlessly whenever started???? Would you be happy after paying the seller £2250 after him telling me he drove van this morning and was fine??????? Liar????? Transporter apologising because of the state of it? He said van was running when he turned up at 7am???? RED FLAG CENTRAL??? Am i allowed to be frustrated??? Van was for my wife and children? Will cost £1000ss to put right????????

Nobody can afford to waste that amount of money but, because Ebay does not offer any guarantee on motor vehicles, you have to go and thoroughly examine the vehicle, preferably with a knowledgeable person who can check it over, and have a test drive, before you part with any money.

If it is a business seller, ask Citizens Advice what your legal rights are.

"There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn't true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.”

Thankyou for taking time to advise? Due to being disabled and no transport, just this once i stupidly accepted his excuses and sent money and van collected by transporter? Cant even access the back of van as side door broken and rear blocked with big seat?? Absolutely so far from what was advertised? I asked seller for a dismal £500 back to help cover a minute amount of the scary forseeable bills im expected to pay to fix their negligence?  Im a vw lover, there is absolutely no excuse for this  ?? Bloody conman!!! Thankyou kindly.  :))Sent from my Galaxy

If the seller was a dealer you have more statutory rights than if they were a private individual,  but it will be tricky for you to decide that given that you didn't attend the premises.

Thankyou for your reply. He wasnt a dealer. Due to my disability i was on this one occasion unable to travel to view van. I conversed with seller and was convinced he was a gentleman??? Huge huge mistake? A con man through and through.  Hes still convinced the scrap he sold me he drove that morning? Lies. Van had not 1mm of oil in engine?? Engine sounds awful??? Billowing thick white smoke as soon as engine decides to start and an absolute animal to drive?? Ive been a lover of Vws for years and stupidly believed this awful conman??  Still debating just what to do to this lowlife?? Thankyou all the same  :))Sent from my Galaxy
