I have hundreds of pounds worth of stamps which l stocked up on before the last Royal Mail price rises so that l did not have to increase my postage charges to buyers. I am sure I'm not alone in having done this. If l am unable to use these stamps due to Ebay's new mandatory simple delivery edict, am l supposed to just write off the loss?
To bring in this new system with just two weeks notice is appalling. Ebay should have given at least six months notice instead of just instigating this so abruptly.
Like many other sellers l am going to be literally FORCED to look at other platforms for selling, otherwise l will be stuck with hundreds of pounds worth of stamps that l cannot use.
The "buyer protection charge" was bad enough, but I truly believe that simple delivery is Ebay's biggest mistake.

Our neighbour doesn't have a smart phone for QR codes or a printer so they are scuppered on ebay too....
If items you are selling are sent in an envelope and under £10 and under 100gms then you would be exempt so you can use your stamps.

Simple Delivery was first mentioned in a speech by Jamie Iannone (CEO) in October 2024, when he announced it would become mandatory in Q1 so it has been on the cards for some time. It was initially set to be widely introduced in February and most people assumed that the ability to opt out would not be permanent.
I don't like the idea of Simple Delivery, but there have been plenty of warnings that it was on its way.

I doubt many Ebay sellers have a clue who Jamie Iannone is or that he was giving a speech in October 2024, but many sellers will have stocked up on stamps prior to Royal Mail increasing their prices in October last year (after they had already been increased in April last year).
