Sold an item through eBay Simple Delivery - buyer paid the postage. When I got to the post office, the parcel was over 2 kg, so I couldn’t use eBay’s label and had to buy new postage out of my own pocket. I uploaded the new tracking, but eBay refused to cancel the unused label or credit me back.
They said their policy is to refund the postage to the buyer after 40 days if the original label isn’t used - even though I paid for shipping myself. Doesn’t seem fair at all.
Anyone know how to deal with this kind of situation?

That is how it works, the buyer pays for the Simple Delivery so if the label isn't used then the buyer is credited back.
There isn't a workaround here if the postage on the listing is incorrect and the seller ends up paying.

Upgrade to business seller.
No more SD, you choose postage.

Not sure what’s “simple” about Simple Delivery. Seems more like a setup between eBay and couple of couriers to squeeze extra profit from small mistakes sellers makes with weight or delivery options.
Thanks for your reply though I really appreciate your time.
