Hi all,
I’ve been selling on eBay for years, and like many of you, I’ve always tried to offer a fair deal especially when it comes to postage. But the new Simple Delivery system has made that nearly impossible.
Buyers are now being charged postage per item, even when those items could easily be combined into a single parcel. Sellers no longer have the option to adjust or offer proper combined postage, and the “Request Total from Seller” button is missing entirely for many especially on the mobile app, which is what most buyers use these days.
We’re left dealing with confused and frustrated buyers, and often have to explain that we have no control over postage anymore. The only workaround is creating bundle listings manually, which is far from ideal and not something every buyer is willing to wait for.
This all comes on the back of the recently introduced “Regulatory Operating Fee”, which already felt like an extra blow to both sellers and buyers especially as it applies to postage costs, not just the item price.
In my opinion, Simple Delivery is the final nail in the coffin. It’s not simplifying anything it’s overcharging buyers, punishing sellers, and creating unnecessary barriers for people just trying to use the platform fairly.
More and more people are heading to alternative platforms where shopping is easier, fees are more transparent, and sellers are trusted to manage their own postage like adults. eBay used to have that edge — now it feels like it’s sliding further away from what made it a great marketplace to begin with.
Really hope someone from the team is listening. This system needs to be seriously reviewed.
Thanks for reading.
