Just removed over 500 item due to ebay only allowing the simple postage option, is there any way around this

If you mean is there another way for Private sellers to sell without Simple Delivery?  No,  there is no alternative.

Some items are  excluded from SD namely oversize items,  and light items.

This explains how Simple delivery works:

It certainly does not favour sellers selling low value items, along with Buyer Protection now added.

Upgrade to business seller, no more SD.

Thanks thats why the only items i sell on ebay now will be collection item
