Hi all!
Having read a thread about Simple Delivery and compensation, I followed the suggested link to
prohibited items.
I have always sent anything with a value over £75 via Royal Mail Special Delivery.
Having sold a brooch for £120.00, I expected this to be the shipping service offered to my buyer. It wasn't.
I am now worried because 'Valuables', including jewellery, are on the list of items prohibited for Simple Delivery.
What will happen if the brooch goes missing in transit? Will my buyer receive a full refund, or not? Will I be allowed to keep the payment?
Or will the brooch be classed as prohibited and the 'advantages' of using Simpke Delivery not apply.

Jewellery is excluded from SD when means you would have to refund the payment, not ebay. You should have been able to opt out of SD during the listing process.

I don't recall any opportunity to opt out of Simple Delivery. I'll contact eBay now. Many thanks.

I thought that as long as Simple Delivery was the default for jewelry it would be covered for the £750.
Ebay was working to change it so simple delivery is not available for items that shouldn't be covered, like jewelry, have they done that now?

I mainly sell jewellery and, if I list anything for over £20, I have to use Simple Delivery.
So, as far as I know, jewellery is covered by Simple Delivery even though it does still say it's not.
As you have found out, it's the only option offered, so logic dictates that it is allowed and your item will be covered for up to £750 against loss or damage in transit.
