Should I Be Concerned About a Buyer Not Collecting Their Item?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice regarding a recent sale. I sold an item on eBay and shipped it via Royal Mail’s Recorded Next Day Delivery on the 13th. The tracking shows that the courier attempted delivery multiple times, but each time, it was marked as “Delivery Attempted - No Answer.” After each attempt, the item was made available for redelivery or collection.

The buyer arranged for a redelivery on a specific day, but once again, it wasn’t collected. I managed to reach out to the buyer by phone, and they mentioned that they were working and couldn’t pick it up. However, I find it confusing because if they knew they were working, why arrange for redelivery on that particular day?

I’m starting to worry that they might be intentionally delaying the collection or possibly planning to claim non-receipt later on. Has anyone experienced something similar? Should I be concerned about this situation? What steps can I take to protect myself if the buyer doesn’t pick up the package?

Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Attempted delivery is counted as ' delivery' in eBay's eyes,  I'm hoping it's the same if you sent this using Simple Delivery.  I will try and find out for you, but being a weekend I'm not sure Community managers are around to ask ! 🤔

If, it is so,   they will not be able to claim for item not received,  but if it is returned to you, it would be right to refund,  do so by cancelling the order citing Problem with Buyer's address,  this refunds,  them,  and your seller performance is not affected.
