Sending to another country with Simple Delivery . What happens?

I am a private seller in the UK. I have a low priced item for sale. A potential buyer has asked if I can send it to Ireland. As it is going through Simple Delivery, I am not sure how to respond. I assumed that , if he lives in Ireland, he would automatically see the cost of sending it to him. However, if he lives in the UK but wants to send it to a friend in Ireland, how can I help him?

SD does not go outside the UK.   So you'd either use ebay's Gobal Shipping process, if you have that enabled, or post direct to Ireland.   You should only ever post to the address the buyer has registered on ebay.

Thank you very much for your reply. I have always had Global shipping enabled. ( and I have just checked to make sure it is still enabled) However, since Simple Delivery has been introduced , when I list something, it always has

"DELIVERY DETAILS

Postage policy

Simple Delivery will override your domestic postage policy."

I assumed that buyers would still be able to see what it would cost to send to their country

My buyer says "I’ve now added the item to my basket and I’m on the Checkout screen.  Hopefully eBay will be able to adjust the settings on your account so “Ireland” displays as a delivery option?"

I don't know what else I can do my end.

Try putting their ID on your exemption list to remove any blocks:

Sending to another country with Simple Delivery . What happens?

Thank you very much for getting back to me again. I have done as you suggest. I have added him to my exemption list. My buyer (who does live in Ireland) has now paid for the item. I have gone to the Get Prepaid Label but I am getting a message  "It was not possible to generate the label. Post to postcode is not valid. " I have googled the Irish post code and it looks fine to me. It looks like the Simple Deliver is just not using Global Shipping. Do you have any other thoughts?

If it's not included in GSP and buyer has not paid for postage you will have to cancel/refund the transaction with buyer's agreement (via the dropdown menu menu for the item on your orders list) and relist with direct postage to Ireland on your listing for them to buy and pay again.

Or you could cancel using the reason "problem with buyer'a address" and leave it at that.   It's a shame things have become so much more complicated these days.

Thank you vey much for that. Do you know how I can list it so that I can post it directly to Ireland?  The (not so) "Simple Delivery" seems to be automatic and there doesn't seem to be a way of opting out.

SD is automatic for UK postage but you can add direct international postage.     Look up the weight of the parcel on the Royal Mail prices website (if you want to use RM).   You need Interational: Europe zone 1 for Ireland.

During the listing process you should get an International postage heading below the UK postage.   Enable that by switching on the blue icon on the right.    Then click on Additional locations > Destination > Ireland or EU.   And add the price.

Sending to another country with Simple Delivery . What happens?

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me. Unfortunatley, when I tried to re-list the item there was no International postage option. So I requested a call from Ebay. I was told that with Simple Delivery , if an item is purchased from another country it will automatically generate a label to send to Global Shipping (if I have it enabled). The problem here is that my buyer was using an account based in Northern Ireland (part of the UK) but had entered a shipping address for Ireland. Which is why Simple Delivery would not issue a postage label for that address. I have cancelled the original order and my buyer had repurchased using an Ireland based Ebay account. Phew!! No I have a parcel to pack.

Thank you again for your help **peaseblossom**
