I listed 4 items for auction starting £55 each and buy it now £80 each; I have had bids of £2 on each item but now have been offered the original buy it now price with an agreed reduction in postage; how can I proceed to accept this or does the fact that I have 2 bids cancel the buy it now option

The BIN element disappears after bids unless you also use a reserve (relatively expensive and usually unnecessary). So you cannot accept an offer now.

Thanks for your response, is it acceptable to withdraw the item and then relist so the potential purchaser can accept the BIN offer before someone bids

Your 4 items all have bids now.
If you cancel an auction with bids you will be charged a fee based on the highest bid placed and also charged for the Reserve if one is placed, that's a non refundable listing fee payable sale or no sale.
Basically usually not advisable to end auctions early, as usually, no guarantee of course most bids do come in the last seconds of an auction. Also even ending the item and relisting still no guarantee that buyer will still wish to buy, does happen they pull out.

Thanks for the info, I have advised the BIN offer we can't proceed and he will have to bid

That's the best outcome just invite them to bid along , and join the auction.
If they really want the item, they can ensure they place the maximum bid , and they may win it for less as it will only be revealed , when matched or surpassed.

Cancelling listing with bids without agreement of bidder would give you a defect. One defect is not serious, as ebay expect no more than 2 per 100 sales, but for a seller with a low number of sales, one defect could be 10% or more.
