Seller refusing VAT receipt

Hi,

After requesting a VAT receipt from a VAT registered UK seller for an item.   I was told to contact Ebay to source it myself, however it looks like Ebay has not listed this under the order.   I pushed back to the seller and said it has not been listed by Ebay and I was told to contact support.  Any idea where this Ebay VAT receipt will be? Thank you

eBay has not collected VAT on the transaction, then the VAT invoice will not be available from eBay, and the seller is responsible for providing a VAT receipt if applicable.

This is between you and seller. 

But as this account is not a business one, seller may not see need to issue one.

As @tobiasd4 says - the seller is not required to issue a tax invoice unless the buyer is registered for VAT. 

["Technically" they cannot do so as it will not be a tax invoice]

Why do you think that you may need/want one?
