I bought a sofa from a seller. I paid for a man/van to collect. Two days before the pick up date, the seller e mailed me saying there were marks on the sofa, which he had not mentioned before, as he had listed the sofa as 'barely used'. I asked for a reduction in the sale price and pointed out I could not cancel my van man without losing the money I had paid for the driver. The seller then cancelled the sale and refunded me my money. So, I lost the money I had paid to the van man. This is morally wrong. E bay did not help in any shape or form. Where do I stand?

There is no way you can claim against the seller through Ebay for the money you lost paying for a van.

If it is worth it, take legal advice.
You may be able to get a free chat with a solicitor - either through Citizens Advice, via your trade union if you are in one, or even through your home insurance.
Any claim would be against the seller; Ebay is not responsible for consequential loss such as the one you have suffered.

As far as ebay are concerned, collection items should be collected in person, so using Man with a Van would have no protection at all if it had been collected and you wanted to return it, so possibly saved yourself further expense.
