There is NO seller protection on ebay and you cant contact a human being to resolve.

Scammers ask to use their own courier, telling you they will provide a collection code and then never do. They receive the goods and then claim it was never collected. Ebay USELESS cannot get the funds released or contact a human being.

It's pretty impossible for a buyer to lose out on eBay.

I'm not quite clear what you're saying here, can you explain in more detail what happened with the item you bought?  A link to the listing would be useful too.

The collection code is for the sellers protection as it shows the buyer collected.

Without the code a seller has no proof of collection and should not let any item be taken.

I'm not sure how you could've got scammed there?

If the buyer doesn't provide a collection code then you don't let anyone (buyer or their courier) take the item. 

If you let them take the item then you have no proof that they have it, and they can get a refund via a not received claim.

Providing they don't open a claim, you should get your money within 14 - 21 days.

Buyer wanted to either use his own courier or for me to refund postage (I.e I would pay for postage) i agreed for him to use his courier, he sent me a label and I posted. He has told eBay he is collecting. No doubt he will tell eBay he didn’t collect through some fault of mine, get his money refunded and keep my goods. I thought this might be a scam but as the account has been active for a long time with all positive feedback I agreed to his request. No doubt setting up accounts with phoney feedback. Not sure why you guys are asking. Probably scammers checking this forum for a template.

What happens if I mark as picked up under 'more actions'. Will ebay release the payment?

You can't mark as 'picked up' as you don't have the collection code.

Did the label the buyer sent have a tracking number you can check?

The label sent has a P2G number on it, which I recognised as Parcel2Go. I have checked the number on their website. The item was delivered by Evri on 10 December.

What annoys me  is the buyer has been a member since 2016. 100% positive Feedback (3399). But it is marked as (private) so I cannot see any reviews. This may have been going on for almost a decade and has not been stopped by ebay

when I took the parcel to the EVRI drop off, I was told the email address was also marked as private, so they are doing things to conceal themselves and are not being stopped.
