Royal Mail tracking numbers not being attached to Orders

When I buy Royal Mail postage through eBay, the tracking numbers are not being attached to the order and I have to enter the details manually.

The order doesn't show any tracking information and shows a status of a 14 day wait for payment!  The "View Tracking" and "Edit tracking" options are not available and I have to display the order details and enter the tracking number there.

This was working correctly up to 30th April but all orders placed in May have had the same problem, Once I have entered the tracking details, the status of the order changes to "awaiting delivery"  which is correct.

Royal Mail tracking is a disaster at the best of times, not updating or wrong dates shown etc, but this is the worst problem so far.

I would be very grateful to hear from members about this.

Thank you!

Re: Royal Mail tracking numbers not being attached to Orders

Others have been reporting this,  that is,  tracking is not being entered automatically,  and has to be entered manually.

Annoyingly, Royal Mail / courier tracking is sometimes not in sync with eBay's tracking, and the latter is the most important for releasing a faster payout,  that is,  2 days after the delivery date.

If you have found your tracking has not updated,  therefore holding back your payout,  contact eBay Customer Services, provide the tracking showing delivery, ask if they can kindly release your payout now as 48 hours have passed the delivery date.

This is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

Lines open between 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays.

9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.

I recommend contacting CS very first thing in the morning, when the lines first open,  as there's more chance of Dublin.

Re: Royal Mail tracking numbers not being attached to Orders

I spoke to Customer Service about this. I received an email from them yesterday (6th May 2025) explaining that there had been an error on one of the servers, but that it had now been fixed.

However, that seems to be irrelevant now owing to the soul destroying advent of Simple Delivery about to devastate private sellers like myself,

After 25 years of eBay membership and with 100% perfect feedback I am now ready to throw in the towel.   It is obvious that eBay wants to get rid of private sellers. Buyer protection fees and now forcing Simple Delivery on us.

So, well done eBay I give up now and will stop selling.

I worked in IT for 50+ years and the most important thing I ever learned about business is "Don't bite the hand that feeds you".

So much for Customer loyalty,
