Royal Mail 48hr code not recognised by P.O. Unable to cancel label and change to EVRI. Work around?

Royal Mail 48hr code not recognised by local Post Office today. Checked and found this is a current problem. Unable to cancel Simple Delivery label and change to EVRI.  Any work around available other than take Proof of Posting without tracking, suggested by Post Office staff?

This has been Royal Mail issue over the past few days affecting many,  you are not alone.

Some were reporting  this to CS,  and being told they would be sent a new label!    Hmmm!   Personally,  with the seemingly hundreds/ thousands of cases which would need to be dealt with,  I wouldn't solely rely on this to happen.

Another member has reported CS telling them it's a Royal Mail issue, which will be solved in 24 hours!!  This too hasn't happened.

Seems for the time being, the answer is to either buy your own postage label through Royal Mail / Post Office,  and manually enter the new tracking details.  Or, try again later for an SD label.

Then, for the unused label:

  • If you selected 'Buyer pays’ when you created the listing, your buyer will automatically be refunded for any Simple Delivery label that isn’t used after 30 days

  • If you selected ‘Seller pays’ and offered free postage on your listing, you'll need to fill out the Request a refund for Simple Delivery form for the label that wasn’t used. Make sure to send your request within 14 days of your item selling.
