Hi, I had an item in the post from a seller which was incorrect. The seller now wants the incorrect item back through Royal Mail as he has now sent me the correct item, (so this is not a normal Ebay return request where a label gets issued.)
Despite the parcel being already opened he advised me to return as he instructed below:
'Regarding the return of the incorrect item...If you still have the envelope then please put the product inside the same envelope, cross your address and mark on the outside the envelope as "Return to
Sender" and drop it in the Royal Mail'
Is this method legal? Will I end up getting charged? Thanks!

You cannot do that. The seller is trying to get RM to pay for his mistake.
If they want the wrong item back they need to give you a prepaid label or send you the money for the postage.
