I bought an item from a seller whose page said they accepted returns. I then tried to return it as it was not suitable. I was happy to pay the postage but Ebay generated me a Royal Mail label. I could see instantly that the label would not be sufficient because the item was larger than Royal Mail accepts. I contacted Ebay customer support who told me it was ok to buy postage myself with a different courier as long as I upload the proof. After posting with Evri, I uploaded all the evidence and tracking number to messages with the seller and emailed them to Ebay. The seller has been very unhelpful, they keep replying that I need to make sure I update the tracking on to the return. Because of the useless label Ebay generated it was not possible for me to override this and there was no function on the return page for me to input anything. I then made the mistake of closing the return thinking I could open up a new return and be able to manually add my own tracking. I did not know this was not possible. The item has now been delivered back to the seller and I have no way to get a refund. I have tried to dispute with Paypal but they refer me back to Ebay as 'not suitable' is not on their dispute reasons. None of this mess would have happened if Ebay had not sent me the wrong label in the first place. It is clear from the sellers attitude they will not help me. How can I get my refund?
