Return that might be damaged by the buyer

I sold a phone that I no longer needed due to an upgrade. I’ve looked after the phone the whole time I have had it eg always in a case with screen protector never dropped or put anywhere unsuitable that might damage it . The buyer bought it within two minutes of my listing it and asked it be posted that day which was fine and I complied. Same day he received it he wants to return it, so I asked what reason he says it won’t charge. Before I posted it out I charged it to full for him it was fine then so I told him . He then said he had tried 10 chargers in the phone and it wouldn’t charge. I was advised I should accept the return so I did and when he went through EBay returns he’s now saying the usb port is loose and damaged which it wasn’t when posted out . I’m worried that this has ruined my phone and devalued it now I have a damaged phone to resell instead of the perfect one I had ,

Until you get your phone back you won't be able to check it to see what, if any, damage is on it.

It's a waiting game now.

Hopefully you made a note of the IMEI/serial number so you can check it once you have it back to make sure it really is the same one you sent out.

If they have opened a case for item not as described you will have to accept it within 3 days and pay for that fully tracked return postage.  You refund only when the item is back with, you have 48 hours to do so.  Stick within those timelines,  and your seller performance is not affected.

No point challenging a case it's all automated, no human contact,  you need to get the item back.  If it had been misused,  damaged and returned not in the same condition as sent out,  you then can appeal the decision for the refund.

I won't lie,  it's not easy to appeal ,  eBay after all do not see the item sent out,   or the one returned, but the buyer may have a record of doing this ?  You never know.

This shows you how to appeal.

If you have accepted the return, which you have little choice about, then as said, check the phones IMEI number assuming you noted it down before sending your phone out,so you can see if the buyer swapped the phone when returning it.

If you do receive a different phone then you can look to appeal any decision in the buyers favour with ebay regards buyer abuse.

Yes I have the phones details including the imei. He admits to trying 10
charging cables in it and says he had to hold the charger in a particular
way to get it to show charging 😵

There lucky they have 10 charging cables to hand,so sounds like they either changed there mind about buying the phone or are looking to return a different one,so look to report if the later materialises.
