Return package issue caused by THREE mistakes

I was buying two trousers online and they came from China. Understandably so I tried them on and they weren't as how I wanted them as I bought them in the wrong size. I then want to return them but never having returned a package before I thought the packaging that came with the clothes was not important and I threw it away. It had the barcode on it. Me oblivious to this realised that I messed up and had to pay extra to send it back. When I requested a refund it gave an address which was determined to be in Switzerland which had me confused since that was what Ebay's return address gave me. It only 3 lines being Kappa, Grossmatt ***** being a post code I gave it to them and sent it off thinking it came through with a correct post. I waited 3 days prior to me sending it thinking my money would be returned. The seller messaged me a day after saying this is the right address and it was completely different to what was given on the return address provided. I owed up saying to him I threw away the packaging sorry I sent it to that address with the tracking on the same message but I checked the tracking myself it said the place was invalid so I wouldn't get anything back for sending it out.

I am confused and concerned since I just spent £84 buying and sending them back and now I'll probably have to spend more money to even return them so I am not sure what to do I tried going on Ebays report system and gain assistance in this matter but I barely understood since it still counts as me sending the package back to the person even though it was sent to the wrong address. I already told the seller it was the wrong address prior to all of this happening. This went from I went my money back to the clothes to three different mistakes I made. If nothing happens I will probably just keep the trousers or give them away since it is not working too well for me.

It sounds as though you didn't read and follow eBay's returns procedures before sending them back.

eBay would have provided the return address - and if the item had been listed as UK stock, the seller would have been required to provide a UK return address. If it was imported direct from China you would have been responsible for the cost of returning it there.

When the postal tacking record confirmed delivery eBay would have issued your refund.

I'm afraid that it you try to return items yourself, not through eBay - especially to sellers in China - there are may things that can go wrong and you're on your own if they do.
