Hi everyone,
I buyer wanted to return an item bought on 15 June , he requested full refund on 23 July.
I spoke with an eBay agent and they said the return policy says clearly 30 days.
just the mention when I sold the item , it was brand new with tags and box included.
Now he texted me saying he spoke with his lawyer and eBay team and he will take legal actions.

What reason do they give for wanting to return the item?
Their next move might be to start a chargeback with their payment provider.
They are unlikely to start legal action and Ebay will support you as the buyer is out of time to accept a return.
However, you should think about what you want to do. Do you want to stick to the rules, refuse a refund and put up with any subsequent hassle and potentially a chargeback, or do you want to offer the buyer a return and refund if they pay the postage to send the boots back and get closure with this difficult buyer?

He's bluffing. He has to abide by the site rules, although he might be able to get a refund or do a chargeback from his payment provider, depending on how he paid.

Obviously you have chosen not to show what he wrote initially but your response is quite antagonistic.
I would certainly not respond to any further messages from this person.

The reason he wants full refund is because the boots got damaged separation issue on the top of the boots , the item was sold in box brand new with tags , sold on 15 June received it 17 June requested refund 23 July

I would expect a brand new pair of boots to last more than 5 weeks.
As you have been advised, the buyer could come back with a payment dispute/chargeback on the grounds that they have bought items online which are not fit for purpose.
Most payment providers would allow a buyer 120 days to start such a claim.
After 30 days, Ebay will not force you to refund an unhappy buyer.
