Reporting a scam

It's so difficult to report a scam auction! I tried to report this one:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/177670871103

The price is ridiculously low for a 1kg silver bar and the pictures have been stolen from facebook:

Reporting a scam

Looks like they may have put the decimal point in the wrong place in the price.

eBay would not take on board reporting a scam in a message, as they cannot see the item,  and the message could be coming from a disgruntled buyer,  or even a competitor.

eBay work on cases.

If buyers receive these items and they are indeed fake,  opening those cases for item not as described will fully refund the buyer,  and if an inordinate number of cases for this reason are opened,  this raises red flags to eBay, and they take action either by removing the item and or the seller from their site.... permanently.

Reporting a scam

With one gram being about £1.50 the price including postage is not far off what a bullion dealer would no doubt charge.

If seller can afford to sell at this price and there is no rule saying pictures cannot be copied, then with buyers being protected by the money back guarantee, ebay will not consider removal unless several “not as described cases” are opened.

However this is a new seller with only automated feedback for sales and I would expect any buyer to be cautious. This does appear to be a one off sale as no more are listed.
