Reporting a fake item and got nowhere

Hi guys, 

 

I recently bought a Makita impact driver on eBay. Upon inspection it was fairly clear it was fake. I had messaged the seller over a week ago and again today asking for an explanation but have been ignored. 
I also reported the item to eBay as being fake and there was a quick response from eBay stating they didn’t think the listing to be in violation of their policy. The determination was made using automation and AI with my complaint closed down for seller to carry on. 
I sent an email and photos directly yo Makita UK and they quickly determined it was ‘100% fake’. 
I’m a little disappointed with eBay and can see no way of contacting an actual person or an email address to send my complaint about eBay being the problem

eBay doesn't act on reports of counterfeits from members. They will only remove items from sale when reported by the registered owner of the brand name. Quote: "Only intellectual property rights owners can report eBay listings that infringe on their copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights".

Instead, eBay suggests that "Members who are not the rights owner can still help by getting in touch with the owner and encouraging them to contact us".

 

You have contacted Makita. It's up to them now.

Thanks for your reply. I have an email from Makita I wanted to forward on to them but from what you’ve said I’m wasting my time. 

It doesn’t sit right with me as these fake products can cause all sorts of issues to the buyer in regards to loss and can be dangerous to use. What kind of buyer protection is that ?
