I recently bought some Beauty of Joseon cosmetic products on eBay, and they turned out to be fake. When compared to authentic products, the quality differences are obvious and the items are clearly counterfeits.
When I tried reporting this to eBay, their AI system flagged my report as “not violating eBay’s terms of service.” What a joke. I can’t seem to find a way to reach an actual human to resolve this.
Has anyone else dealt with this? Any tips on how to get past eBay’s automated system and actually get help? I know I should’ve been more careful, but I didn’t expect eBay’s own reporting system to work against buyers.

If it's still within 30 days of the delivery date you can start a return on here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/buying/returns-refunds/return-item-refund?id=4041
select "Item doesn't match description" and escalate it to eBay after 3 complete
working days.

this is so backwards

Thank you for this solution, I’m not returning the product since they are not genuine, but I will escalate after 3 business days to actually get it to a sentient being. Thank you

I have done the following. Some are return requests with a deadline of Dec 29th and 2 went straight to return. Why is that?

Unless you open ebay case for not as described, you won't get refund.
If business seller, return postage label is automatically issued.
If private seller, they get 3 days to issue label or refund.
You escalate on day 4.

Gosh what a system. Thank you

“Not in violation of our policy" is a classic example of how eBay's so-called AI hasn't been programmed with the correct reply to reports. Just a generic response to reports they don't follow up.
What it should say is that "eBay does not accept reports of counterfeit goods from users, only from the registered brand owner. You can report it to them, then if they report it to eBay it will be removed from sale".
If you read eBay's policy on reporting counterfeits you will see that this would have been the correct answer: https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/listing-policies/selling-policies/intellectual-property-vero-pr...
