Releasing collection code prior to collection

My gut says no but I don’t want to miss buying this item. The seller is insistent I release collection code now, even though courier not arriving until tommorow 

please advise/ reassure 

seller been in eBay 20 plus years and had 100% feedback. Am I worrying unnecessarily. .

Could you explain why there is a courier involved in a collection item?

Generally speaking a buyer collects a collection item and only hands over the code when they are happy with the goods.

There is no buyer protection when you use your own courier so if the item is damaged, lost or not as described any claim will be between you and your courier.

Giving the code is proof of collection so I understand why you wish to wait but the courier is unlikely to wait around while the seller and you exchange messages sending and receiving the code.
