Release of funds

Delivered  item personally. I had been told by Ebay customer service that provided buyer sent a message through an Ebay system (feedback) confirming they had received the item, funds would be released. Buyer confirms receipt but Ebay will not release funds.

Re: Release of funds

Oh dear,  CS has given you the wrong information , sorry.

No message from the buyer to eBay will release funds quicker.

Was it the dinghy sails?  They were originally listed with a postage cost,  so there will be no collection code for the buyer to provide to you,  and this is the only form of confirmation for collection,  eBay accept and to release funds sooner.

With no code, you will have to wait a minimum of 14 days for the release of this payout.

Re: Release of funds

You need a tracking number showing delivery if there's a postage option on your listing:

  • For tracked orders with a subtotal (excluding postage, fees, taxes) of £750 or less, funds will be available instantly if positive feedback is received from the buyer after delivery confirmation

Re: Release of funds

What you are saying is that delivery in person is not supported. Where does it say that?

Re: Release of funds

Where does it say that if threres a postage option on the listing, personal delivery is not allowed, and that the only proof of delivery is a tracking service.

Which is what your email implies.

Do we always have to give in to “systems”, even when they have no provision for the case we have to deal with? What are people for?

There's nothing to stop you from delivering an item in person, but if there's only a postage option you have no tracking number to prove delivery, which eBay require.

If there's a collection option and the buyer selects this then they give you their collection number when you deliver or show you the QR code and you add this to the order to prove that the buyer has their item.

Did you add the code?

Delivery in person is ' supported',  but the item has to originally be listed for collection.

When it is then purchased, and paid for the buyer receives a collection code to give to the seller to scan.  This is the only 100% proof that an item has been collected.

Your item was originally listed as a  postage item.

The best way forward then,  would have been,  with the buyer's permission and explanation given,  to cancel the order citing Buyer Requests to Cancel,  then to relist it as A Collection item only, for the buyer to buy and pay again receiving that all important collection code they give to you.  Once scanned, this would release your payout sooner.

Without this code,  and obviously here no tracking,  your payout will be held as said,  for a minimum of 14 days.

Re: Release of funds

Ebay operates on rigid systems otherwise they wouldn't be able to operate at all.
