Hey, so I sold a coffee machine to a buyer (for collection only). They then decided they could not come and collect it so requested a refund. When I go to refund them, I am being charged £2.40. Please could someone explain why / how I can prevent this from happening?

Cancel - buyer request.
As a private seller there are no final fees,so where does the £2.40 come from.

Did you buy a postage label by mistake? Check on your orders page and select postage labels on the left-hand side. If there is one go to the actions dropdown menu next to the label and select Void Label.

Thanks for responding. Nope, no label was purchased. I am very confused!

Are you sure you're being charged? eBay refunds always look really confusing but work out OK in the end.

Thanks for responding. If you see at the bottom it says 'Charge: £2.40'. When I click submit to process the cancellation of the order for the buyer, a pop up appears to say I will be charged a fee of £2.40. Is this normal?

You had £17.60 In ebay funds,
£2.40 was debited from your bank,
Total £20.00 refund.

I haven't seen that before but it looks like a charge from your card.
I think Tobias is right. Not very clear at all.

Oh, so I wont be charged this cost? that is not made very clear at all?!

You will be charged £20 in total, but as you presumably only had £17.60 in your ebay account, the balance £2.40 had to be taken from your bank or card account.
Surely this is obvious, you cannot have received £20 and only refund £17.60.
