Refunded item received eventually but junk

I purchased an item which, after 30+ days had not arrived.  Contact with seller resulted in delaying tactics.  Contact Ebay who decided to issue a full refund and removed the listing for policy violations.  30 more days later the items were delivered but proved to be of unmerchantable quality, in fact total rubbish bearing no resemblance to the original listing.  Tried to contact seller but his account seems to have vanished.  The parcel has a return address but it is just a UK postal hub, the items (which were listed as UK) actually came from Hong Kong.  Where do I go from here?  Do I return the items to the stated return address, even though it is not the seller, do I just bin the rubbish, or what?  Cannot get any sense out of Ebay because my request 5360853418 was closed on receipt of the refund.  What is my legal position?

Suggest just hold for a time, in case seller asks for return, which I doubt very much, then put in the bin.

Ebay would not get involved, you have been refunded and seller is most unlikely to want to pay for return tracked postage to China for a load of rubbish.
