Refund question

I recently sold an item, the buyer paid-sent it off using packlink. This was in the 18th October and tracking hasn't been updated since then. The buyer wants a refund as item not received (fair enough I don't dispute that). The buyer has put in a request to eBay for item not received and I have until 2nd November to respond.

I've put a claim in for a lost parcel to packlink/eBay in the meantime.

My question is do I refund the guy now before I've heard back about my claim or do I wait? If I refund the guy and then for some reason my claim for loss is denied then I'm massively out of pocket. On the other hand I don't want to mess the guy around, it's not his fault the parcel's been lost. I haven't sold many items before and this is the first time something like this has happened.

Thank you for your help

Refund question

You do have to refund the buyer now regardless of whether you get any compensation for yourself.
