Recalled item

I had a email from Ebay saying a baby toy i bought in December had been recalled as it is unsafe and to destroy the idea. I obviously removed it from my baby straight away and put in the the bin. I paid £16.95 for the item I have messaged the seller for a refund but they are ignoring my messages. If the item has been recalled and deemed unsafe do you have the right to a refund?
