Rapid relisting

Hello,

I recently bid on a v rare plant that a seller was listing. In the final seconds, another bidder placed a bid that was greater than mine and I lost out. The next day ( 18 hours after the auction ended) I was contacted by the seller by email and a second chance offer made. The seller said the winning bidder hadn't been in contacand had not paid for the item. I replied yes please less than 2 hours later but the seller  told me it was too late and they had sold the plant to another bidder. Lo and behold I searched ebay straight away and the same seller was selling the same rare plant once again .. From our correspondence I don't believe this was a duplicate plant but the same original plant and it has already received bids in excess of the winning bid from the auction I came second in… Am I right to be suspicious of this ? Is it okay to not wait even 24 hours before offering an item to someone else or even relisting it again ? Feel v suspicious about this experience.. Thanks for any advice…

That seller either doesn't understand what they are doing, or may be up to something, or may be being messed about by other buyers.

It's impossible to know for sure.
