Raise a formal complaint to eBay about eBay?

I received an email from eBay stating that an item that I had bought via eBay was unsafe and should not be used:

Hello aladinsaneuk,

Item details: 363851785585 - 2.6M-3.8M Portable Heavy Duty Multi-Purpose Aluminium Telescopic Ladder Platform

I contacted the seller - and received no reply.

I contacted a live person - amazingly at bay customer support and he stated that:

Thanks for sharing the information. I can totally understand that, please do not worry, I'm here connected with you and will make sure to help you with the best available resolution.

Thank you

As I have checked the details for you here is the resolution this was just an automated notification because we took action on the seller's listing as per the internal policy. Once we take any action on the listing, an automated email is sent to all the previous buyers. I assure you that there is nothing to be worried about this email and you can keep using the product.

so - that seems fair enough - until I read the aforementioned UK government link - and actually Ritu was wrong....

I watched - with some horror  a news story on the BBC that detailed this exact issue

the ladder I bought states that it has the appropriate safety certificates - it may say that - but it doesn't - it does not have a stabiliser

I have spent several days now trying to get hold of a representative to speak to to no avail - I will be sending this to the BBC as a matter of course - but you cannot actually raise a complaint in eBay....

You can write to Ebay at their London address.
