Hi i have just started selling on here again after a year, and had to give my national insurance number for the new rules. I understand the selling limits etc but Id like to know if I use my ebay credit from selling items to then buy other items, does it still get marked as income even though it didn't go into my bank account?
I'm only selling my own items and a few for a friend who doesn't have ebay and its not for profit. Thanks

It will be based on sold items, what you do with the money iscjo concern of HMRC.
If you are only selling your own items should not be an issue.
Looking at your selling history, I don't think you sell enough to worry about.

Well a year ago I sold 40 items before the new rules came in and I stopped selling. I was selling some items for my friend at the same time.
I can't afford to buy everything i like so will usually sell some other items to help towards the cost of it. So I take it the sale of all items go towards the total income limit even if you spend the ebay funds before it goes into the bank?

HMRC rules apply to lots of sites, not just ebay.
Vinted and AirBnb users are also subject to it.

All sales on your ebay account will count towards the threshold that triggers a report to HMRC.
