Ebay does not let you 'try before you buy'.

You have to buy, pay, and then inspect the item before you hand over the collection code and take the item away.

If it's not what you want you don't hand over the code and you ask the seller to cancel.  You will then be refunded.

If they won't cancel you get your money back through an item not received claim.

Purchase an item over £3000.

This happened because some buyers and sellers used to arrange to "view" items before paying, and then pay for it privately to evade payment of eBay's fees.

Now eBay won't allow any contact details to be provided until the item has been paid for through eBay's checkout.
