Promoted listings is eBay's latest money-grabbing scheme on top of their 'Protection' racket

Not content with foisting the sales commission on us disguised as a 'Buyer Protection Fee', eBay is now pestering sellers with a money-grabbing constant sales push on 'Promoted Listings'.

The going rate for promoted listings seems to be around 10% of your sale price. eBay claim it achieves about better sales results as it attracts around 25% more page views.

Well, here's a tip: Give your listing 25% longer to be seen by more eyes and pay nothing.

I wouldn't mind so much but there persistence in pushing it is annoying.

I dismiss their 'Opportunity' to get more page clicks on a daily basis. What it really is is a poorly disguised  opportunity to get another big commission on top of the one they have foisted on buyers and sellers with their 'Protection' racket.

Basically FREE TO SELL is a con. If you use a lower promotion  rate than the recommended rate, ebay then tell sellers that it will get fewer views, so with no promotion the implication is that it will get no views. So much for FREE.

Just in case you had not realised, whatever promotion rate is suggested, you can edit to a more acceptable figure.
