Potential Buyer being told "unfortunately this seller will not deliver to Ireland"

I am based in the UK.

I have an item  listing that is set to allow International delivery, when I view the listing, under the "Posts To:" information, Ireland is listed.

A potential buyer located in Ireland, has tried to purchase the item, but is being told "unfortunately this seller will not deliver to Ireland".

I seem to be unable to raise a customer service request as the buyer is not able to raise an order and there is no option for me to report a problem with a potential buyer not being able to buy an item. I am only able to request support for an ordered item.

Any ideas welcome as to what I can do to address/report this problem?

Try putting their ID on your exemption list to remove any blocks:

Re: Potential Buyer being told "unfortunately this seller will not deliver to Ireland"

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried that and I also unchecked another setting I found about only accepting orders from regions that I ship to, but the potential buyer has messaged me to say that they are still receiving a message to say I won't ship to Ireland.

I cannot see that I have any setting restricting the regions being sold to so neither should be necessary.

The lack of official support for an issue like this is very frustrating.

Re: Potential Buyer being told "unfortunately this seller will not deliver to Ireland"

If you use ebay's Global  Shipping Programme you could end listing and relist without it.   See if that helps.    You can temporarily opt out here:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/ship/prf

and put direct postage rate to Europe on your listing.

I have global shipping programmed enabled and when I view the listing "https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/157301262337?mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&sssrc=4429486&stype=1&var=" under postage the "Posts to" includes Ireland.

Although your listing shows delivery to other countries there is no postage amount quoted only to contact seller for price.

Re: Potential Buyer being told "unfortunately this seller will not deliver to Ireland"

On this listing I have Global Shipping Programme enabled and it tells me that "send your sold item to our UK postage centre and we'll handle the rest."

Are you suggesting that I have to specify postage to every international country separately?

When I view how Global Shipping Programme works it states "Using the Global Shipping Programme (GSP) means selling your items to European buyers couldn’t be easier.

With GSP, all customs, duties and tax calculations required for selling and moving goods into the EU will be automatically taken care of. Your buyers will always see and pay the full postage, duties and taxes at checkout. There are no extra charges when the items arrive at your buyer’s European delivery address."

Sounds exactly what I want so what am I doing wrong?

Re: Potential Buyer being told "unfortunately this seller will not deliver to Ireland"

Although it says Ireland is OK it may be GSP that is blocking the sale for your specific items.   It might be worth relisting without GSP and with direct postage to Europe for those items.

Thanks for the suggestion, however, to do that I will have to pack the items, get the package dimension and weight and then calculate the cost of delivery to Ireland and the buyer will have to work out their own import tax.

If GSP is blocking the sale why do Ebay make it so difficult to explain why it is blocked or make it impossible to request support?

Re: Potential Buyer being told "unfortunately this seller will not deliver to Ireland"

Don't you do all that anyway, apart from the postage cost.   That's just looking up a  list of prices, eg. on RM's website.   Scroll down to International Tracked on here:

You need Europe Zone 1.   It's usually cheaper for the buyer.

Re: Potential Buyer being told "unfortunately this seller will not deliver to Ireland"

If value is below £135 then ebay collects Irish VAT from buyer and is included on the invoice they send to buyer. Irish VAT I believe is 23%.

Excluding GSP makes it cheaper for buyer and several days difference in delivery as package goes direct to buyer. You would also have to complete a Customs declaration, obtainable at PO, which is quite simple to do.

You must have to work out postage within the UK, as you need to take in to account size and weight within the UK not just overseas.

Re: Potential Buyer being told "unfortunately this seller will not deliver to Ireland"

The value isn't below £135, eBay should have automatically calculated the maximum shipping dimensions and weight, applied the appropriate charge to the buyer, and collected the import tax upfront. That’s how eBay promote their website.

If I have to turn off the GSP to allow the sale, I’m now left to manually set the shipping cost, and the buyer will I assume be notified of the import charges once the item arrives in Ireland.

I’m open to the possibility that I may have missed something in the listing, but as far as I can tell, everything has been done correctly and all the relevant boxes are checked and when viewed, the listing allows postage to Ireland.

While I appreciate everyone who has replied for their time and suggestions, they are workarounds for a system that should be functioning as designed and eBay should allow a ticket to be raised so the actual problem can be reported, and if it is a fault, fixed.

I'll crack on an turn off GSP but even if I can tweak it so a sale can be made, I can see this all going pear shaped further down the line.

Again, thank you for all the suggestions.
