If it's Simple Delivery the label cannot be cancelled without cancelling the whole transaction.

I have been informed that the label is automatically null and void and un usable after 7 days. This advice came from the ebay agents

The label is not automatically refunded to a seller.
Sellers can request a refund for unused labels here https://www.ebay.co.uk/claims/simple-delivery/refund/seller and this must be within 14 days from sale.

Not true. I have tried this several times since early May and the response is that it is unavailable. Not sure if you work for ebay but if you do I suggest you investigate.
I think ebay want people to become business sellers. It would be cheaper as I am paying about 20% on all items I sell because of the label I don't use.

If you don't believe the published ebay policy works for you then either take it up with ebay (we do not work for ebay), or explain exactly what it is you are doing so we can tell you where you are (probably) going wrong.
For example we need to know if you are listing with Simple Delivery and then not using it. If that is the case it's the buyer that gets the refund, unless you listed with free postage.

The only respponders on these boards who work for eBay will have a solid blue border around their replies,I do not work for eBay and have nothing to investigate.
If you read the page I linked to you will see it is titled 'Request a refund for Simple delivery' and explains how you may get a refund if you meet all the conditions
If your request meets all these conditions, you'll receive a refund for the shipping cost. Please note, it may take up to 14 days for the refund to be processed.

Can I just say that my answer on the 9th April was what we were told at the time. Maybe ebay are more fluid about this than we think. 🤔

I have previous correspondence that stated I would receive a full refund automatically after 30 days which has not happened . Also, I have requested refunds within the 14 days and have NOT received a single one despite several promises which I have on record so the info you have gleaned from ebay is wrong.

I have received several answers all of which have not happened. I have the correspondence on record which they don't seem to be interested in. Will buy from ebay again but will not sell as I am actually paying about 20% on items I sell due to paying twice for postage.

Have taken it up with ebay several times and have the proof. I offered free postage so in effect have been charged twice (once at the post office and once by ebay for their unused label.

I think the real reason is they want me to become a business seller. There is no such thing as a free lunch and when they announced no selling fees for private sellers there was always going to be a hitch. I am now paying roughly 20% on all sales due to paying twice for postage.

I do not think ebay or their agents understand the system they have created, purely in the interests of making profits, how much it is costing sellers they do not wish to know.

It is rather cynical that they have ditched sellers fees but are charging for compulsory postage labels that nobody wants. This can work out at much more than the 12.8% sellers fee.

I do not download their label or QR code. Also, I have offered and paid for postage and yet I am still charged by ebay. Therefore, each sale is costing me approx £6. This is the cost of posting at the post office (£3) and the unused ebay label (£3).
I can only assume this is ebays way of charging private sellers now there are, quote, no sellers fees.
