Buyer Paid Postage but I Still Lost on Shipping – Need Clarification

Hi everyone,

I recently sold an item for £5.70 and the buyer paid an additional £1.55 for postage, making their total payment £7.25.

However, when I purchased the postage label through eBay, it cost me £1.80. This means I actually had to cover the 25p difference out of my earnings.

Here’s the full breakdown from my order details

  • Item price: £5.70
  • Postage paid by buyer: £1.55
  • Transaction fees: -£1.35
  • Postage label: -£1.80
  • Ad fee: -£1.22
     Final earnings: £2.88

My doubt is:

  1. Since the buyer already paid for postage, why am I still ending up paying more for the label?
  2. Is this normal, or do I need to adjust my postage settings so that the buyer fully covers the actual shipping cost?
  3. How do other sellers make sure they don’t lose money on postage?

Thanks in advance for your guidance

The buyer paid the postage you charged on the listing.  You used that to buy postage from ebay.  You didn't charge enough postage.
