I am a private seller. If I sell an item, I write the address label, take it to the local post office where I pay for Royal Mail tracked 48. Can I no longer do this?

You could, but the tracking would not be showing so your payout would be held for 14 days before release.
You may also not have protection against loss of item, should the buyer claim, as there would be no tracking logged.
