I sold an item, buyer paid, item was posted .. simple! However, the buyer now says there was no postage on the parcel which they had to collect from the sorting office and pay £7. They are now asking me to refund this £7. I have proof of posting and they have sent me photos of the parcel with no postage label which must have fallen off in transit. What do I do?

Your options are simple: refund the buyer or don't. Ebay won't force you to refund them but the buyer could leave you negative feedback if you don't respond in a positive way.
Would they settle for an apology and a smaller refund do you think?
You could try to get your money back from RM - the buyer should have got a postcard showing the underpayment and you have your proof of posting but I don't know how difficult that process would be.

This happened to me twice when I was selling.
The labels when not stuck on correctly, it only takes one edge to catch on the grey, rough large mailing bags and for the label to be pulled straight off. Bags were often found, the main PO in town when I had to use them told me , with labels at bottom of the bag. My little village PO was always a little more careful !
I filled in an RM claim form the buyers kindly sent me photos of the note on front of the parcel stating the £7+ to pay, and after a 2 week wait the £7 was refunded to me. No issue either time.
Definitely worth claiming, presumably online too, but I'm an ol' fashioned ' paper' girl so filled in the form! 🤗

I want the £7 not £3.90!
That's between you and the Post Office, I'm afraid. Nothing to do with eBay.

You claim on Royal Mail NOT THE POST OFFICE.
It is Royal Mail who charged the buyer, Post Office simply put mail in a bag which is collected by Royal Mail postman.
